Simplicity and Liberty
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.” - James Madison
The machinery of government has become an all-too-intrusive force in our daily lives. I fully believe, as was the mission of our founding fathers, that government be limited to the protection of its people and to the maintenance of our liberties. Laws and regulations have become overly complicated and vague. A drastic simplification of our governing documents will allow all of us to better understand the controls that are in place in our society.
As your Representative, I will make it a priority that the rights afforded to us in the Constitution of the United States are fervently upheld. I want to see government put more liberty back into the hands of its people. The people we vote for should not have the power to keep Americans under foot. They should, however, maintain that individuals should enjoy the liberty to pursue their own interests and preferences.
As a native Georgian, I want to see the federal government give our state the opportunity to make more decisions at the state and local levels that will benefit the citizens of our great state more directly.
